I have a gold ring with a purple amethyst. The amethyst wasn't well taken care of before I got it, and has some sort of buildup under it that is hard to get to. What's the best way to clean it?

Try some household cleaners like vinegar or remover or take it to your local jewelery shop I'm sure they know how to clean it

i know you should avoid soaps, cleansers, lotions, perfumes, hairsprays, and heat. all these things damage pearls. i found a few links with some info…
but honestly, i would maybe consider wearing this ring on special occasions only and then having another ring for daily use. you are going to need to take off the ring when showering and washing dishes. sorry, this ring sounds beautiful though…
