Green amethyst ring?

Would it be weird to get an engagement ring with a green amethyst gemstone in it? I have always really liked the stone and have found several rings I like. I guess I kinda don't want to go with the traditional. Will people think that it's not an engagement ring? Thanks so much!

If you want color, go for color!!!
One thing I will warn you of is that Amethyst is a soft stone. On the Mohs hardness scale, it scores a 7 (diamond is 10, sapphire is 9). Any stone that scores below an 8 is generally considered too soft for normal day to day wear. If you're tough on your rings, the stone could break and it wouldn't take an especially hard hit to chip a green amethyst.
I will also warn you that amethyst, especially green amethyst, is a very inexpensive stone... for those rings you linked, you're paying for the setting, as the stone is probably not worth more than $10-20 and these stones are not very saturated (they aren't strong in tone, which is generally what adds value to a stone). I'd also question the cut quality of these stones. You might want to look into green sapphires or tsavorite garnets if you like green. As you will see from some of these sites, certain top quality colored stones sell for much more than diamonds. An excellent quality colored stone is much more rare, therefore much more valuable than your standard colorless diamond.
Edit - I also wanted to let you know that there are a lot of creepy treatments done to colored stones.... there are also tons of fakes out there, especially on Ebay. Honestly, I think it sounds like a bit much. Your wedding ring should stand out on your wedding day, you don't want to add a whole bunch. I wouldn't purchase another ring, for sure. Also, depending on your neckline, perhaps no necklace either. You don't want to distract from the neckline. Perhaps a simple choker would be good, if you really want. Also, a bracelet has so much potential to get in the way.
As far as colors: Possibly diamond/emerald – since it's his favorite color, you'll be able to wear it later on too and he'll be touched that you remembered.

What do you mean you want the "main" stone to be amithest AND peridot. you cant mix stones into one? i work in a jewelry store. Kays to be exact. and many wemon choose alternative stones over diamonds for there wedding rings. my warning to you is. peridot and amethist are relativley soft and chipable. a dimond wont chips and break away like these stones will. and with everyday wear. in time you will have to replace the stones. this would be a nice idea for a pendant. you can always do a Solitar ( one diamond) engagment ring,. with a channel set Amethist and peridot Rings on both sides. this is a safer setting for these types of stones. hope this helps! also. at kays they have books of settings you can flip through and build any type of ring you want with KILLER warrenties
