not normally, amethyst is coloured quartz. you can get different qualities and cuts which affect the value.
no. they aren’t.
generally no they aren’t that expensive. i had a one carat amethyst and it was almost $100.
No, Amathyst is not expensive, it is actually quartz that has iron impurities, most gemstones are as a result of impurities when the crystal grew…like Ruby is really red sapphire…
I like Amethyst, in the darker colors it is very beautiful, and by the way, other stones other than diamond is commonplace in Europe for engagements…There IS a rare color of amethyst, it is very dark, with red flashes, it is called Siberian Amethyst… Generally, the stone alone can be purchased for around 25 to 50 dollars per ct….you can find a nice collection on ebay…
It depends. Like all stones is the cut good? How about the color? Is it a deep rich purple or lavender? Are there visible inclusions? How many carats is the stone? Is it set in silver or gold? What is the 10 or 14 or 18kt? Quartz is a beautiful mineral, and a fine gemstone. I’ve always liked it.
Link is to a on line seller that has many styles and prices to choose from if you like gemstone jewelery.
Amethyst rings are so beautiful and unique. Good choice!
I don’t think expense should be an issue. Your friend probably picked the ring out herself. But if you must know how expensive it was, ask the bride to be. Or–you can ask what metal and its karate weight the stone was set into. 18K would make it expensive. Platinum would really be the top of the line. The deeper the stone’s color and the more perfect it is, the better.
All depends on the quality. Lucky her – I LOVE amethyst!
I’ve found some which aren’t every expensive. Usually they aren’t right?
